Voir la source de Using Paper Cups for Hot Drinks

A common question we often get asked which cups we would recommend to our customers; this can be a tricky question because it depends upon heat of drink you wish to use. We stock a wide range of items from single-wall plain [http://www.catering24.co.uk/kraft-ripple-12oz-cups-lids.html ripple paper cups], to your latest triple wall 'Ultimate' hot cups. The main difference may be the insulating properties with the specific cup type.

Our Plain White or Mocha Single wall hot cups are ideal for warm drinks; however piping hot coffee would perhaps be rather uncomfortable to carry without having to use a single cup sleeve (available separately). Due to their single-wall construction there isn't any additional layer to insulate the temperature in the beverage.
Double wall and hot ripple cups are specially built to withstand much high tempuratures, the twin layers operate in much the same method to a thermos flask; trapping air and isolating the client's hand from hot drinks. In addition to this, the excess cup strength is ideally suited to 'coffee around the go'.
With various traditional coffee chains and drinks providers favouring different disposable cup materials, it's interesting to find out what is easily the most effective insulator. Possibly the best fitting approach to discuss the insulating properties of an paper cup would be to compare it with another frequently employed takeaway cups, including the common expanded polystyrene type. This can be achieved by using a simple test to exhibit if the polystyrene or paper version kept the liquid it contained hotter for the very best time period.
Paper cups vs Polystyrene cups
The warmth retention test involves putting 200 ml of scorching water in a polystyrene cup and the same amount in a paper hot drink cup to find out what is the foremost insulator. For any wider comparison, you might introduce a plastic cup to the equation to reveal how its insulation properties compare well. Everybody knows these hot cups will give you a particular amount of insulation, however this test may help show the best idea strategy to keep liquids warm.
How you can Test the temperature
You may use a thermometer to evaluate the temperature with the liquid. Going for a temperature reading every minute for about 10 minutes, on the other hand around Twenty or so minutes and A half-hour, will show whether or not the paper cup is definitely the very best insulator. You'll be able to record these readings as being a graph if you wish to make results clearer.
Heat retention
In an extremely similar test, cup and food container specialist Contexpan found that the liquid in both cups dropped in temperature quickly in the first a few minutes, from around 100 degrees centigrade close to 90 degrees. However, at this time, the liquid inside the polystyrene cup cooled with a slightly slower rate than the paper version, remaining at about 80 degrees after 25 minutes compared with the liquid in the paper cup, which had dropped close to 70 degrees.
The final results
The findings declare that the polystyrene cup is the better insulator, with the paper cup in second place. A third cup, a plastic cup, was adopted within the Contexpan make certain you this presenting inferior insulation properties, with the temperature falling to below 70 degrees centigrade after 25 minutes. However, some catering supplies organizations are now using double-layered disposable paper cups by having an air pocket among capture the temperature and still provide a supplementary layer of insulation. Further tests might need to be carried out discover whether thus giving the paper cups the advantage over polystyrene ones.
From your findings above, we would almost certainly expect the greatly increased insulation of ripple/weave paper cups to place them on the first page using this type of form of experiment. The ripples work like a thermos flask, greatly increasing the heat retention with the cups. Further tests are forced to conslusively prove this statement however.
Biodegradable Paper Cups
These days there is a lot of concentrate on the usage of Biodegradable hot drink paper cups. It is become a issue as traditional PE coated hot drink cups use non-renewable materials because of their inner lining. Obviously this lining is necessary to increase the risk for cups watertight, therefore the best to create paper coffee cups more eco-friendly is always to switch the PE lining by having an eco-friendly alternative.
The modern array of Biodegradable Paper Cups utilize a PLA (Polylatic acid) lining instead of the traditional PE (Polyethylene) coating. Previously PLA has become mainly suited for Plastic Glasses made for cold drinks. This is because PLA would set out to dissolve whether it touched a classy drink. The most recent varieties are temperature treated to really make it ideal for use with piping hot drinks; this advance has created the coating right for use with paper coffee cups.
