[10] The FY1 doctors perception of eClearning in this case study was influenced by the delivery and format of the eClearning at this institution. We postulate that a successful eClearning programme is characterised by the strength and relevance of the content and learning outcomes, supported by the appropriate technical infrastructure (good user interface, Anti-cancer Compound Library supplier design, interactivity, broadband speed, technical support, IT facilities) and the overall learning strategy (including its administration and management). The challenge for the future is to identify relevant and well-designed eClearning modules, and to incorporate these into a blended learning strategy alongside classroom-based learning and clinical teaching into a weekly teaching session that meets the requirements of the national foundation programme curriculum. eCLearning will check details gain in sophistication with evolving web-based technology, and in time will play a greater part in promoting the trainee doctor as an active, lifelong learner. ""UK medical students' confidence in their prescribing skills is low, and a significant proportion of prescriptions written by foundation year 1 (FY1) doctors contain errors. The Prescribing Safety Assessment (PSA) is a new national examination aimed at ensuring prescribing competence in undergraduates, but few PSA-specific preparatory resources are available to students. A needs analysis was performed and an online eCtutorial (Prepare for the PSA) was designed. The eCtutorial consists mainly of a practise exam that closely mirrors the format of the PSA itself. After completing each question the user receives personalised feedback, and is given the opportunity to further their knowledge using interactive learning activities. A facility for users to contribute their own Sitaxentan questions is included, and the eCtutorial also explains the rationale underlying the PSA and directs users to further learning resources. Numerous attempts were made to encourage the use of the eCtutorial amongst UK medical students and educators. A total of 248 final-year students at a UK medical school were asked to evaluate the eCtutorial and rate their prescribing confidence before and after completing it. The response rate in the evaluation was 72.7C73.9?per?cent. The results show that completing the eCtutorial is associated with highly significant (p?
