Ch�teau Lafite Rothschild is a "premier grand cru" according to the official classification of Bordeaux wines of Ch�teau Lafite 1855. It takes its name from the family of La Fite. On 8 August 1868, Baron James de Rothschild Lafite acquires castle. 103 ha vineyard is divided into three plots. The vines are 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot.
