Screen glass repair, part 2

This week we're likely to carry on our series o-n single-pane window glass repair. Let's talk about broken glass in a fixed window, often called a photo window. The most typical type may have metal stops on the outside, around all four sides of the window glass. Often these stops will be held-in place with screws, and other situations there will be metal stops that snap in place. In certain rare instances you will have a rubber material in the place of steel. If you've the screw type, you remove most of the screws and each part can come out. For those who have the-metal snap-in stops, carefully pry the stop from the shape using a small, flat screwdriver or a putty knife. You want to begin in a place and work across the end until it comes out. Don't pry too much since the stops may bend quickly. For those who have the rubber kind, pry a corner away using the screwdriver, get it with your fingers, and pull out the rubber. The glass shouldn't drop out because there is a glue or tape on the edge, holding the glass in place.

From here, You will get your measurements for the brand new little bit of glass. The glass ends may be exposed, and it is possible to get your height and width and hook your tape measure to-the side. When there is a hole in the glass, measure the glass thickness. If there's not really a hole, put on some gloves and vigilantly drive on the glass where the crack is found. Do another side exactly the same way. At this point the glass should fall out. You must place a tarp or sheet underneath the window to get the glass as it comes out. Using a stiff putty knife, scrape off the silicone or tape from the figure. If there were setting blocks on-the bottom, make sure to delete them. They act as shims to raise the glass off the bottom.
